In line with our commitment to educating the whole person, we recognise that the academic and emotional growth of each of our girls is dependent upon their happiness and confidence. In order to achieve this objective, Marymount has an effective pastoral care structure in place, with teachers wholly attuned to the well-being of their students, and parents included and informed as soon as any potential issues are identified.
Every student benefits from ongoing personal contact with their Advisor, a designated teacher committed to monitoring and guiding her throughout the school year. In addition we organise regular grade retreats, group outings, and team-building exercises, all designed to make each of our girls appreciate their valuable place in our school community.
The pastoral care within the School is overseen by an Executive Pastoral Committee consisting of the Chair, the Deputy Head and Head of Boarding, who meet fortnightly to discuss feedback from the Advisors and Heads of Year. The Head, School Counsellor, Learning Resources Coordinator, School Nurse, and of course parents, can also be called upon where and when necessary.
Our school Mission is "that all may have life", and we pride ourselves on providing an environment in which each girl's needs are fully met. As noted in the report issued as a result of Marymount's 2015 inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), “the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the pupils is excellent”.
