Head's Welcome     Sr Michaeline O’Dwyer, RSHM, began her post as Headmistress in August 2009. Sr Michaeline, a member of the School’s Board of Governors for the past three years, comes to the School unanimously supported by the Board, and brings to the position capable and steady leadership guided by a life-long love of education and the Mission of the RSHM Network of Schools.

 

In addition to serving on the School Board of Governors, Sr Michaeline participated in both the Education and the Development, Marketing & Recruitment Committees. Sr Michaeline holds an MS in Biology from Fordham University and after teaching at high school and college level in the USA, became Principal of the Secondary School at Marymount International School, Rome. After Rome, she worked as Vice President for Development at the Jesuit School of Theology, Berkeley, California. Sr Michaeline most recently served on the Provincial Council of the Eastern American Province of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia, and the Boards of Marymount High School, Los Angeles, and Marymount International School, Paris. She is a past Trustee of the Pontifical Liturgical Institute Foundation in Rome, and the RSHM Life Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

The Congregation of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) was founded in 1846 in Béziers in the south of France. Our founders, Père Jean Gailhac and Mère St. Jean had a vision for the education of young women. In time the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary established many schools and colleges throughout the world. Today Marymount London is one of the 19 schools in the RSHM Network of Schools throughout Europe, the United States and South America.

 

At Marymount London, that same vision called us to introduce the IB Diploma and IB Middle Years programmes (MYP). The IB Diploma Programme was introduced in 1979, long before the International Baccalaureate became accepted as the benchmark of excellence it is today.  The Middle Years Programme, for students in Grades 6-10, was adopted at Marymount London in 1997.

 

At Marymount we emphasise a balanced curriculum with an outstanding academic record and are rightly proud of our social justice programmes and the attention given to community service.

 

Our students are talented young women who set ambitious goals and work diligently to achieve them. Every year our graduates enter excellent universities and colleges in the UK, the US and around the world.
