Head's Welcome
Ms Sarah Gallagher,
BA
(Hons) HDipEd MA (Hons) (University College Galway, Ireland) was appointed Headmistress of Marymount International School London, effective 1st August 2010.
Ms Gallagher comes to Marymount from St Leonards-Mayfield School, a Catholic Independent Boarding School for girls in East Sussex, UK, where she served as Pastoral Deputy Head and Head of Boarding. She received her Bachelor’s Degree, a Higher Diploma in Education and a Master’s Degree in Ancient Classics at the National University of Ireland, Galway and pursued doctoral studies in the United States. An experienced administrator, Ms Gallagher is also a teacher of Latin, Greek, Classical Civilization and Ancient History. She has taught in schools in London and in Rome and in higher education in the United States. She is married and has two teenage daughters. |

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Marymount London's website; thank you for your interest in our School. Marymount London is a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary’s worldwide network of 19 schools in Europe, United States and South America. Our location on the beautiful grounds of the exclusive Coombe Estate, situated in the Conservation Area of Coombe Wood and within 30 minutes of central London, is ideal and idyllic. We have ready access to all that London offers while we have the benefit of the beauties of the English countryside in this historically redolent part of London.
Marymount London is a close-knit community of girls and highly committed staff from over 45 countries. Our outlook and tradition are Catholic and international. Girls of all faiths are welcome and form a central part of our community. At its heart, Marymount has the desire:

Our boarders join us from around the UK as well as from countries around the world, including Germany, USA, Japan, Kenya, Mexico and Kazakhstan. The perspective gained here is culturally rich and necessarily global. Since Marymount has been offering the IB Diploma for over thirty years, we are among the most experienced and successful schools in the UK, indeed worldwide, in delivering this programme. Although we do not admit students solely on the basis of academic ability, our girls perform at the highest levels in the IB examinations, and each year we have students who score in the top 5% worldwide. Our Middle Years programme provides an excellent and rigorous training in preparation for IB Diploma and Sixth Form studies. From the earliest stage of their secondary education our girls are apprised of the integral nature and value of knowledge and they develop the enthusiasm and skills necessary to be independent learners, the
sine qua non of future success.
