Partnership with Parents

Education at Marymount is an ongoing partnership between students, teachers, and parents. Communication is the key: detailed reports indicating students’ progress are mailed home four times a year, parent-teacher conference evenings are held twice yearly (in autumn and spring), and individual meetings with teachers, counselors or administrators may be arranged separately.

The weekly electronic mailing of This Week at Marymount keeps all members of the school’s widespread community posted on developments and events on campus, including the Family event in the autumn and International Dinner in the spring organized by our energetic Parents’ Association. The mailing also includes a list of daily activities and school events.

The printed school newsletter, Marymount Matters, is sent out annually, and includes reviews of school and alumnae events.

Families of day girls are happy to welcome boarders into their homes, and parental involvement in extra-curricular activities – from helping backstage in drama productions to hosting students from visiting sports teams during tournaments – plays a vital supportive role in the school’s life.

Parents' Association

The Parents' Association (PA) is the social organization for parents of the school. It is devoted to helping the families enjoy and get the most out of their time at Marymount. As part of this goal, the PA runs several events throughout the school year. The autumn term usually begins with a family event in August, a day to meet new families and students and to renew friendships. Another annual event is the International Dinner, which gives parents a chance to get together, share food of their culture, and participate in fun activities to help raise funds for the school.

In between these events are other activities such as the craft group, a book club, planned outings to the greater London area’s attractions, grade level coffees and the monthly PA meetings. The monthly meetings are the place to get the most current information on what is happening at school. Those who are unable to attend the meetings, information is shared through emails and this website.
