Marymount Graduation 2010

Congratulations to the Class of 2010!

On Saturday 29th May, the Marymount community joins in congratulating the students in the Graduating Class of 2010. These 57 young women, from over 30 different countries, gather together this day to celebrate the end of their IB Diploma Programme and High School careers.

The Celebrations commence on Thursday with the Mother and Daughter Luncheon and the Induction to the Alumnae Association. On Friday the seniors and their parents join together for the special evening Liturgy. The Commencement Exercises take place at the School on Saturday afternoon followed by the evening Graduation Ball in central London.

We wish all of the students the best of luck as they enter the next stage in their lives, starting University, or taking a gap year to volunteer, work and travel. The list of Universities offering places to this year’s leavers include Oxford, Imperial College and London School of Economics here in the UK and Stanford University and University of Pennsylvania in the United States.

We are very pleased to announce that the Graduation guest speaker for 2010 is one of our very own Alumnae, a Graduate of the Marymount Class of 1983, Dr Gülnur Aybet. Dr Aybet’s main areas of expertise are transatlantic relations, with special reference to NATO and the EU, Turkish politics, foreign policy, state building and post conflict reconstruction in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author of several books and articles, she is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Kent and most recently a Southeast Europe Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC. Last year Dr Aybet was named one of the 13 most powerful Muslim women in Britain by The Times.

Congratulations, once again, to the students in the Class of 2010!
