On Friday 2 February, eleven Marymount students from Grades 7 and 8 came first and third in the UCL research competition.

The students presented their findings on pollution and safe spaces for teenagers before an audience of PhD students, teachers and other school students at University College London (UCL). This was the culmination of a six-month research project, which the students conducted in Marymount under the guidance of Ms Pickstone and Veronica Cucuiat, a PhD student from UCL.

The winning group built a sustainable city on minecraft, and the other created an online magazine aimed at teenagers.

A huge congratulations to the teams: “The pollution police” (Sakshi Athreya, Ruby Tomlinson, Meghna Mishra, Polina Markova, Charlotte Klurfeld and Vivien Zartner) and “Beyond London” (Cristina Joos, Chinua Onyia, Lara Semerci, Arabella Sainty and Mugdha Vasishth).

After completion of this project, all students felt inspired and are already looking forward to develop these projects further.
