It was wonderful to see and feel the reaction in last week’s Assembly when our Headmistress, Mrs Frazier, presented Anastasia with her heart pin as the first recipient of our “Marymount moment” for the year.
It is important for our students to know that she was new last year as a Grade 11, and very quickly immersed herself in our school community. As this year began, she created an individual note of inspiration for each of her Grade 12 “sisters” as a way to start the year united. When made aware about this amazing and generous gesture, Mrs Frazier knew it marked a great beginning for the Grade 12s and that she was a deserving individual for our first award.
As the weeks go by, we will take time to recognise students who have distinguished themselves through their academic excellence, expressions of kindness, or strength of character. We want to have a “Marymount Moment” every so often at Assembly to celebrate and inspire qualities of compassion, courage, and curiosity in our girls. We are a school rooted in love, forming individuals with habits of the mind that allow us to pursue academic excellence, habits of the heart that strengthen our friendships and relationships, and habits of character that allow us to face challenges and embrace opportunities.
