Our Grade 10 students have been working hard over the last two days as they begin their six month independent-learning process which is the Personal Project.
The Personal Project is an independent project of 5-6 months duration, on a topic of personal interest to the student.
The students receive regular lessons on key aspects of the project, and are supported by an individual supervisor to provide support and guidance, but the project is driven by the student (with some school-imposed deadlines).
The student keeps a reflective record of the entire process.
At the end of the process, the students write a reflective report of up to 3,500 words which is externally assessed by the IB examiners, and a grade (1-7) and certificate are given in September.
It is all about learning, growth and reflection – of key skills such as independence, research, planning, organisation, thinking and managing state of mind, development as a learner – and is therefore excellent preparation for the IB Diploma… and beyond!
