Congratulations go to Jean Klurfeld for her award as one of the Foyle Young Poets of the Year for 2019.
With thanks to our English department and Sarah Openshaw in our Library, Jean accepted this prestigious award at a ceremony yesterday at the Southbank Centre.
For the past 21 years, this award has been “finding, celebrating, and supporting the very best young poets from around the world.”
This year, there were a whopping 11,000 poems submitted; Jean was one of the top 15 and had the extra honour of reading her poem, Zeyde, at the event.
What a joy to have a Marymount poet represented in this competition. We know you join us in sharing in this good news!
