The Sr. Anne Marie Sports Hall was re-opened by the Marymount community this weekend. The Chair of Governors, Ms. Cristina Serrano, was present at the original opening ceremony in 1984. She reflected on the time she had spent in the Sports Hall, “This is more than a Sports Hall. It is a space that holds cherished memories: I played basketball here, I graduated here, I learnt to waltz here… let’s make some new memories.”
Archbishop Emeritus Kevin McDonald, in the presence of Father Aki and Father Michael, blessed the building and alumnae, students, staff and Governors symbolically cut the ribbon to welcome guests into the space. Visitors were treated to an exhibition of pieces that were buried in a time capsule when the building was first opened. They had the chance to vote for what will be buried when the cornerstone is returned to the building later this year.
