As we reach the end of another academic year, I find myself reflecting with gratitude on all that has taken place within our Marymount community. The final week of school has been especially joyful, with our Middle School Graduation and Awards assemblies celebrating the successes of our students.
Academically, it has been a year of great achievement. From success in national competitions such as the British Biology Olympiad and the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge, to Project 29 representing the United Kingdom at the 2026 Climate Detectives Summit, our students have demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a true desire to engage with real-world challenges.
Beyond academics, our students have flourished creatively. We have enjoyed the whole school production of ‘Sister Act’, the Dance Showcase, collaborative art workshops, international sporting events, and the RSHM Middle School Festivals. All of these and many more provided opportunities for students to develop confidence, teamwork, and self-expression.
Our boarding community has also enjoyed another memorable year. From daily life together to excursions in London and beyond, students have developed lifelong friendships, independence and shared memories. Their end-of-year party was a special occasion of joy, companionship, and celebration.
Alongside these achievements, we have continued to nurture the spiritual life of our community through Mass, retreats, service initiatives, and the recent Confirmation of twelve students.
In May, we said farewell to our Grade 12 cohort after a special Graduation weekend. They left us with remarkable achievements, wonderful university offers, and, most importantly, values and character instilled at Marymount that will stay with them.
At this time of year, we also bid farewell to valued staff members. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr O’Brien and Ms Abreu for over 55 years of dedicated service in catering and housekeeping, and to Fr Chris, Mr Ulysses, Ms Machado, and Ms Taborda Gill for their meaningful contributions and positive impact on our students during their time with us.
Reflecting on the year as a whole, it is the collective spirit of our community, the enthusiasm of our students, and the dedication of our staff and the partnership with our parents that, to me, make Marymount so special and a community of which I am deeply proud to belong.
I wish you and your families a restful and restorative summer and look forward to welcoming you back in the new academic year.
